Layer Isolate Fade Autocad

Start the Layer Isolate command. Enter S on the command line. Verify that the current setting is Lock and Fade. Enter O for Off. Modify the Viewport setting. Open your Layer Properties Manager, - Click on the settings cog wheel, - Look for the Isolate Layer Settings options - Select/click the Off option. The command is located under the layer’s dropdown panel. To use, simply click on the elements on layers you wish to work on. After selection the other layers with fade or disappear depending upon the chosen options. Once your drawing edits are completed, the drawing can be restored by the command Layer unisolate which is located on the same panel. Isolate the layer you'd like to isolate using the LAYISO command. (Type LAYISO in the Command line and press Enter. Then select the layer to isolate.) Trees and shrubs, for instance, are on different block layers, so you'll need to choose one of each with the LAYISO tool.

Issue:

When isolating layers using the Layer Isolate (LAYISO) command, there is different display behavior in AutoCAD and AutoCAD based products. The layers are still visible and appear semi-transparent rather than hidden.

The change in display behavior is caused by different standard setting for the LAYISO command. There are two possibilites for the behavior of unselected elements:

• Lock and shade the unselect elements
• Turn the unselect elements off

By default the Lock and shade will be used.

Solution:

• Change the setting from 'Lock and fade' to 'Off'. (see LAYISO (Command)

When you have complex drawings, you might want to lock and unlock layers quickly. Locking layers from layer manager definitely not. Apr 17, 2007  When running the Layer Isolate (LAYISO) command there is now a settings option. In going to the Layer Isolate settings you will be given the option Off/Lock and Fade. Specifying “off” will restore the functionality of the Layer Isolate (LAYISO) command to the way it was in AutoCAD R14-2007.

You want to isolate a Land F/X block, such as a tree or shrub, or an Amenity Reference Note (RefNote) block. Using the LAYISO command turns off everything in your drawing.

Cause

'Smart' Land F/X objects have different layers for the linework inside the blocks, on LK- layers. We do not put any layers within Land F/X on Layer 0, so isolating a block will not isolate the layers within the block.

Solution

Isolating Land F/X objects requires a few more steps because Land F/X blocks include different layers for different types of linework.

Alternatively, if you'd like to just isolate a few species, you can use the ISOLATEOBJECTS command.

1. Isolate the layer you'd like to isolate using the LAYISO command. (Type LAYISO in the Command line and press Enter. Then select the layer to isolate.)

Everything will disappear from view in your drawing.

2. Type LA in the Command line and press Enter to open the Layer Properties Manager.

Search for LK* in the search bar in the top right corner (pictured to the right).

3. Use select all applicable LK layers (like LK-TREE and LK-SHRB). Turn them all on. (You can hold down the SHIFT or CONTROL key to select multiple layers at once.)

Your blocks will now be isolated for you to do what you need to do.

4. Once finished, you can use the LAYUNISO to un-isolate the layers. All layers will turn back on as they were before you used the LAYISO command.
